Open Meeting in Donegal Town

Sunday, 13 Feb 2011

Over three hundred young Athletes from fourteen clubs across Donegal and the North West converged on Tir Chonaill's new Track and Field facility at the Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town today for an open meeting organised by Donegal County Board and supported by Tir Chonaill AC.

The results and performances from this meet indicate that we can look forward to some outstanding performances at the 'Ulster and All Ireland Indoor championship' which take place at the Odyssey Arena Belfast, Nenagh and Magherafelt.

Tir Chonaill Athletes had a string of victories and impressive wins. In the sprints our athletes were first across the line in Over 15 Girls and Boys, Under 15 Boys and Girls 60m finals. In the field events young Thomas McGowan continued where he left off last season with yet another PB -11.39m - in the Shot Put while neighbouring club Sliabh Liag had the outstanding performance of the meet from Barry Quigg in the Over 15 High Jump - he cleared a magnificent 1.91metres in front of an appreciative crowd. A sincere than you to all club and visiting officials who administered, officiated and supported with very welcome beverages through out the day.
