Michelle Harvey runs PB at Irish Milers Club Meeting

The final Irish Milers Club sponsored event of the season took place at the Irishtown Stadium, Dublin on Saturday evening. Donegal athletes from Letterkenny, Finn Valley, Tir Chonaill and Innishowen made the journey and put in some remakable performances. All races had 'pace makers' ensuring fast times and exciting comptitive finishes.
Eighteen years old, Darren McBrearty (Letterkenny AC), in the 1,500m, ran splits of 57/2mins/3mins 3 secs to record an outstanding time of 3mins 49.02 secs. Darren, still a junior next season, has had a remarkable track season and now looks forward to the 'National Senior Championships' at Santry next weekend.

Sixteen year old Mark English (Letterkenny AC) in an exciting 800m ran a new PB time of 1min 52.26secs, a time that was quicker than the gold winning perfromance at the recent European Youth Olympics. Mark competes next weeknd in Wales in the Celtic International.

Michelle Harvey,Tir Chonaill, in the 800m, a short distance for her, recorded 2mins 12.47secs or a new PB. Michelle travels on Wednesday evening to Watford to compete in the British Milers Club meet and then onto the National Seniors next weekend in Santry.

Other notable perfromances in Irishtown came from Danny Mooney (Letterkenny AC) 800M,1min 54.12secs; Gerard Bogle (Finn Valley) 1,500m, 4mins 19.39secs, Frank Chaney (Finn Valley) 1,500m, 4mins 22.28secs and Karen Crossan (Innishowen AC), 800m, 2mins 32.08secs.
