Over the weekend of 30/31 May and 01 June our club travelled and competed at the 'European Club Championships Cup' in Dubnica nad Váhom in Slovakia. Our women’s team, by virtue of their winning the 'Premier National League' last year, represented Ireland at this prestige competition.

Competing in the B grade, but against Olympian and former Olympians, our athletes performed admirably. With guest athletes Lisa Shiels from Letterkenny AC, (100m/200m and 4 x 100m relay), Teresa McGloin from Finn Valley AC, (3000m and 4 x 400m relay), Rachael Akers, (hammer and discus) and Olivia McDonald, (javelin) adding to the squad of Mary and Ethna McLoone, Catherine Harvey, Michelle and Louise Harvey, Marie Rooney, Shelley Roper, Aoife O’Connor and Kitty O’Kennedy, leaving our club with the smallest squad competing, but nevertheless all putting in solid performances.

The club finished in eight place but were competitive in almost all events, with everyone, including the travelling supporters, giving their all.

To all those who, behind the scenes, made the trip possible and to the supporters, thank you.
