West Ulster Sportshall Finals

Omagh’s Leisure Centre, for three  hours today was a hive of noise, activity and no small amount of athletics excellence, when the 'West Ulster Boys and Girls Under 13 and 15 Finals' were ran off  very professionally by Barrie Holmes and his band of dedicated helpers.

Fermanagh, City of Derry, Donegal and Co. Londonderry fielded full teams in an event that challenges agility, co-ordination, speed, endurance and the skills of relay racing.

The all rounder  under 15 Girl and Boy  awards went to Donegal’s Roisin Ni Currain and to Derry City’s Jamie Devine while the team awards were dominated by Donegal with the exception of the Under 15 Boys title going to a well tuned Fermanagh.

The first three teams from the West Ulster finals will now go forward to the Ulster finals in Magherafelt’s new Indoor Arena in early March.

Four Tír Chonaill AC club athletes were part of the twelve girl under 13 squad and gained valuable points in the overall victory.
