Tir Chonaill organise successful Christmas Indoor Competition
Sunday 28th December 2008
The Tír Chonaill A.C. Indoor Invitation Field Event Competition in the Abbey Voc Gymnasium on Sunday 28th December proved to be very enjoyable with some excellent performances. The Poe Vault found a great battle between Strabane’s Ciaran Doherty and Tír Chonaill’s Christopher Doherty with both clearing 2.90m while Karen Tracey in her first competition cleared 2metres, very good for a 12 year old.
The high jump, with two competition pools, had a number of P.B performances. Annalees, thirteen year old, Lauren Sexton, 1.43m, Tír Chonaill’s fifteen year old Louise Harvey, 1.50m and Sl. Liag’s, Paul Donoavan, 1.80m were most impressive.
The Shot Putt, with eighteen competitors, had Mid Ulster’s, highly ranked 17byear old Andrew Doyle pushing the 6.25k weight out to 13.80m; Innyvale’s 14 year old Deimente Zvaliukite putting the 3.25k weight out to 9.91m and Tir Chonaill’s former National Javelin champion Kevin McBrearty, now in the Master ranks coming away happy with a 12.89m best.
