'Level 1' Coaching Education Course concludes in Donegal Town
The latest 'Level One Coach Education Course' in the north-west region concluded on Sunday at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town. Sixteen coaches from Sligo and Donegal availed of the opportunity to gain a 'Level 1' qualification and following a four day commitment, 10/11th October in Sligo I.T and 8/9th December in Donegal, successfully moved onto the 'Coaching' ladder.
Two of the club’s officers, Chairman John Cannon and Treasurer Marie Rooney embarked on the course.The final two days of the course was delivered by 'AAI Conaught and North West Regional Developement Officers (R.D.O’s)' Paul McNamara and Eamon Harvey, both who emphasised proper practice and detailed planning, when delivering athletics programmes to the teenage athlete.
He concluded by detailing the 'AAI
coach education ladder' which was developed as part of the association’s
coaching strategy and how the pool of coaches was increasing in answer to the
ever increasing new generation of athletic talent.
Early in the New Year, it is hoped that a 'Leader Course' will take place in the North-West.
